Most think Lord Shiva is great because he so powerful that he can destroy the universe, has all mystic powers, and can grant any boon usually up to Mukti for those who take shelter of Him. As for me, I consider Lord Shiva most wonderful because of receiving a particle of mercy that Lord Caitanya distributed profusely in this world, causing him to appear like a drunken madman wildly dancing and  beating on his drum. I consider this his supreme opulence, his greatest personal fulfillment and source of all his other potentcies . Anyone who becomes a sincere well-wisher of Lord Caitanya's followers becomes  infected with the same celestial drunken madness,(karma free)  becoming Lord Shiva's most dear friend and confidant.
